I really would like to know when an auto save is in progress before I try painting a few strokes and nothing comes out of my brush.
Please make the SAVING IN PROGRESS icon more visible.
Maybe make it bigger, colour it orange/grey and make it flash, and have it fill up with a different colour as a progress bar.
I feel like it's important to know that an application action is in progress that cannot be interrupted and stop your painting updating until it's done.
I end up having to undo a lot of bad brush strokes because I can't see them as they get laid down and then suddenly the save finishes and then all the brush strokes catch up.
And my autosave is quite short so it happens frequently. And the sometimes long saves would benefit from the progress bar letting you know how long you have to wait before you can make that next brush stroke.
